BODY IMAGING

Radiologists use various modalities such as MRI, CT, ultrasound and digital radiography to evaluate various organs in the chest, abdomen and pelvis. These technologies have dramatically changed the practice of medicine, allowing for much faster, earlier and more accurate diagnosis of many diseases. As specialists in this area, today’s radiologists train for 5-7 years after medical school to obtain expertise in interpreting images obtained by the various devices. Experience from a large number of exams and continuing education is important because some abnormalities can be very subtle, and because there are many variants of normal that can mimic disease to the inexperienced.
