Mammography, ultrasound and MRI can help detect breast cancer and other breast diseases. Radiologists specializing in this area also perform injections into the breast ducts to find the cause of abnormal discharge, image-guided biopsies of suspicious lesions, and pre-operative needle localizations to help surgeons excise the abnormal area with greater precision. Unnecessary surgery is avoided by minimally invasive image-guided biopsies when lesions are found to be non-cancerous. Radiologists in this area use state-of-the-art technology and computer aided detection to maximize their accuracy.
